Good day my dear readers, I really hope you’re all having a great weekend. So anyways, I recently finished reading Simon vs the Homosapiens Agenda, and let me tell you, I absolutely loved it! So I’ll be sharing my thoughts on this wonderful book with you all, so sit back and enjoy!
Oh and sorry for the random cover image, but you’ll get the reference once you read this book 😉
Simon vs. the Homosapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
Sixteen year old and not so openly gay Simon Spier strives to see the drama for the school musical.
However, things take a turn for the worst when a very private, and potentially changing secret falls into the wrong hands, and Simon’s small world is thrown into utter panic and chaos.
For months now, Simon had been anonymously emailing a fellow student at his school who went by the name blue, who also happened to be homosexual.
But you see the thing is, Blue was a very private person and he was always careful about sharing his identity, which led to Simon taking every precaution in the book to keep blue safe.
But when their emails are intercepted by another Junior from Simon’s class, the teenager finds himself being blackmailed into setting up his tormentor with one of his best friends, Abby.
This all leads to Simon entering a nervous situation where he has try to not piss off his best friends, keep his sexual identity a secret and try to make sure he doesn’t lose his one shot at happiness with boy of his dreams.
Oh, and let’s not forget the part about playing wing man for his blackmailer.
I really liked the characters in this book, I thought that they were really adorable and funny. I even liked Martin to certain extent!
But Simon and Bram were just too sweet, I can’t even imagine their cuteness without squealing. I liked Leah a lot as well but sometimes I felt that she was overreacting a little too much and that was kinda getting tiresome near the end.
But over all I really think the characters made this an excellent read and I wouldn’t reading about them again.
How I felt at the start of this book:
How I felt near the middle:
How I felt at the end:
I think those gifs pretty much sum up how I feel about this book.
But in all honesty, I really did love this book, it was funny, adorable, a little angsty and just amazing all around.
I really liked the relationship Simon had with Blue and their emails were absolutely adorable and I just…I love these characters guys, I just wanna hug em to death!
I sort of felt like Leah was going overboard sometimes but other than that I really liked her character.
Nick and Abby were absolutely wonderful. And Simon’s family was pretty amazing too, and for once a teacher actually did something about bullying!
Honestly the characters were just amazing and I think they really made this book special.
Though I really wish that Simon and Martin had made up in the end, I kinda liked him 😦
The plot was nice and sweet and just really relaxing.
The writing was absolutely wonderful and this book was just kinda addicting but then again most romances are.
But if you’re looking for a fluffy LGBTQ+ romance you should definitely pick this up.
I’m really excited to read ‘The Upside of Unrequited’ which is another book by Becky Albertalli.
I’m really looking forward to meeting her tomorrow, a friend and I are going to her book signing tomorrow and I’m really pumped up about it!
I might give you guys a post about the experience, we’ll see 😉
Anyways I hope you enjoyed this post and hopefully I’ll be back with another soon. Happy reading!
