The Guilty Reader Book Tag

So A could friend of mine asked me to do the guilty reader book tag, so here you go I hope you enjoy!

1. Have you ever re-gifted a book you’ve been given?

No I have never re-gifted a book, why would I? If someone’s smart enough to give me a book I’m bloody happy, even if I don’t find the book all that interesting, I’ll still keep it, even if it’s just for the sake of memory.

2. Have you ever said you’ve read a book when you haven’t?

Yes, I’m guilty of doing this. You see, I have the bad habit of buying books in bulk.

So sometimes when I’m cleaning or rearranging my shelf, I find books that I’ve had for a very long time with no intention of reading them whatsoever.

And in that case, I have this huge pile of books to give away, but, my family has a thing for getting upset if I give away a book that I haven’t read.

So in that situation, I simply say I’ve read the book, and it’s never anything serious but I prefer to avoid conflict where I can.

3. Have you ever  borrowed a book and not returned it?

No I haven’t, if I intend to read a book then I prefer to have a physical or digital copy of my own.

Additionally, I have a tendency to be pretty absent minded, so even if I borrow a book from the library  (out of desperation) there’s a pretty high chance that i’ll forget to return it until the very last minute.

Also, I never let anyone borrow my books, my policy is: if you want to read it, get your own damn copy.

Harsh but necessary, since I really care about my books and would hate it if someone damaged them.

4. Have you ever read a series out of order?

Yes I have actually! It’s how I got into reading in the first place. So back when I was eleven, I wanted to read a somewhat scary book (I was in love with horror, even at that age).

So I walked into a book store and I picked up the first book that interested me.

The book that got me hooked on reading was the twelfth installment of “The Wardstone Chronicles/ The Last Apprentice Series” by Joseph Delaney.

Sadly at the time I hadn’t been introduced to Goodreads and I wasn’t really into technology all that much, so I had no idea whatsoever about the order of the series, but I eventually figured it out on my own.

Long story short, I can’t really feel guilty about reading this series out of order because if I hadn’t made the mistake in the first place, then I think that I never would’ve had the love for reading I do today.

5. Have you ever spoiled a book for someone?

Yes, yes I have. This one has another sentimental story attached to it. When I started high school, I had to pick a book to study for my ISU (Independent study Unit) as an assignment in my English class.

Needless to say, I had finished reading ‘The Shining” by Stephen King just a few days prior to school beginning and I decided to read the sequel, ‘Doctor Sleep’.

Fast forward a few weeks into the school year, I had a habit of reading my books before class.

So as I was waiting for my business teacher to come and open the room and get started with the lesson, a girl who is now one of my closest friends saw me reading ‘Doctor Sleep’ and started to talking to me about the book since she’d recently started it herself.

To make a long story short again, I accidentally spoiled a small plot development in the book for her without realizing it and in the end we became really good friends after that.

Oh and if any of you were wondering, the girl I spoiled was Julia and I’ll leave a link to her channel down below.

6. Have you ever doggy eared a book?

I am ashamed to admit this but I have. I used to do it a lot when I was younger, because apparently ‘little me’ had never heard of a bookmark.

But I also did it quiet recently as well with ‘The Martian”. and basically I doggy eared any page that had a quote on it that I liked and thinking back on it now, I feel like a monster 😦

7. Have you ever told someone you don’t own a book when you do?

Not that I can remember, I think this is just a tactic to make sure that people won’t ask to borrow one your books.

But in all honesty, if someone asks to borrow a book, I just flat out refuse and leave no room for argument.

8. Have you ever told someone you haven’t read a book when you have?

No I haven’t, if I’ve read it, I say so.

9. Have you ever skipped a chapter or a section of a book?

Not on purpose. This happened to me quiet recently, I was reading ‘Six of Crows’ when I accidentally skipped a chapter because I was really tired.

Halfway through though, I realized what I’d done and went back to read the missed chapter before finishing off the one I accidentally read.

I’m also prone to skim read books sometimes too if they don’t hold my attention or interest me but that’s a very rare occasion.

10. Have you ever bad mouthed a book you actually liked?

No! Why on Earth would I ever do that?! In fact forget Earth, I wouldn’t do that anywhere in the universe!

If I liked a book, I’ll say so no matter what.

Well anyways, I hope you enjoyed this post and please be sure leave your feedback. And as always, happy reading!
